Cannot find the DVA Fees for Residential Aged Care Facilities?

You are not alone!

2019 Medicare Changes

12 new item numbers were introduced by Medicare on 1 March 2019 for Residential Aged Care Facility consultations. These new fees remove the need to add a / at the end of each item with the number of patients that were visited which is AMAZING! Unfortunately, Practice Managers and Doctors alike have been scratching their heads and calling Department of Veterans’ Affairs, searching for the corresponding DVA RACF fees to no avail, until today.

Hooray! The DVA fees for visits to Aged Care Facilities have been released and they are set out below:

Item NumberMedicare RebateDVA Fee
90001
(Flag fall service for each visit, when the first patient is seen only.)
$55.90$55.00
90020
(Brief)

Note these current as at 29 July 2019.

Odd that the DVA fee flag fall didn’t go up and is now lower than Medicare! If you don’t believe me, you can check on the DVA Fees website.

Hope this helps anyone who was tearing their hair out trying to find this information!
